Expungement Clinic

Recent studies have found that people whose criminal records are cleared tend to experience a sharp upturn in their wage and employment trajectories. On average, wages go up by 25 percent just two years after expungement. Takura Nyamfukudza, C&N co-founder, recently volunteered at an expungement clinic hosted by the Ingham County Public Defender’s office and Legal Services of South Central Michigan. Takura was one of many lawyers who helped eligible clients file applications with local courts to continue the process. Look for more of these clinics to happen as the package of bills to expand the statue make their way through the legislature. Takura will be at future ones to give people who have paid their debt to society a leg up.
